Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Accountant II position analyzes and reconciles accounting data and transactions, prepares and maintains records of all accounts payable transactions, Concur travel reconciliations, accurately verifies rental car expenses, and uploads vouchers into TeamWorks Financial. This position also develops, maintains, and prepares periodic reports.


Essential Functions

1. Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, research, time management, and

problem-solving skills;

2. Apply generally accepted accounting principles in recording financial activity in the

accounting system;

3. Review and verify coding of invoices.

4. Process AP Vouchers

5. Serve as Travel Liaison (Answer and respond to customer inquiries)

6. Review, verify, & approve expense reports for travel

7. Assist with travel reconciliations and create voucher payments

8. Serve as back-up to upload daily files received from DAS and VR Program

9. Correct the rejects from these uploads

10. Daily Analysis between the uploads and payments

11. Researching and resolving invoices discrepancies and issues.

12. 1099 Analysis, preparing 1099, mailing and ensuring the balances and class code

are accurate.

13. Assisting with other tasks as assigned that pertains to Accounts Payable.

14. Additional reconciliation related to Accounts Payable.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


Work Conditions

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodations can be made available to qualified individuals upon request.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position occasionally requires long hours of work.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related areas from an accredited college or university OR Three (3) years of professional level experience in accounting or a closely related area.


Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully performing the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience reconciling Bank and account reconciliations.

2. State of Georgia Accounting Experience

3. Advance Microsoft skills, especially Excel.

4. Proficient in TeamWorks Financial (formerly PeopleSoft).

Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience.
