Summary: Provides accounting support for Collections, Recovery and Loan Servicing Departments via payment processing, general account research and error resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Researches account-related issues and reports finding and resolutions back to the requesting party.
  • Processes final, rejected and exception payment transactions
  • Works the un-posted queue report to ensure accounts are closed out in a timely basis
  • Process all monetary transactions related to charge-offs and recoveries
  • Refers accounts that require complex handling such as fee waivers or monetary adjustments outside of policy to Payment Processor II
  • Handles assigned accounts in accordance with established procedures
  • Input data to post customer payments in a timely and accurate manner according to posting and processing guidelines.
  • Post and reconcile payments received from all sources, checks, electronic batches, etc.
  • Research and identify payments received with incorrect loan numbers and communicate with Team Manager on unidentifiable account numbers
  • Identify funds received on paid in full loans, document system of record and coordinate return of funds
  • This position involves regular access to specified personal information of consumers, including, but not limited to, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.

Education and/or Experience The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and or/GED. Two to three years payment processing experience preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills Strong math aptitude is essential. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to explain simple interest loan calculations.

Reasoning Ability Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with a PC and have beginning to intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word software. Also proficient with a 10-key calculator.
