Reporting to Real Estate Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis for the designated portfolios.


Your Contribution to the Team Includes:

General Ledger

  • Complete month-end close procedures and accurately reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts for designated portfolios/accounting areas, including Spain/new European portfolios, in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Analyze and interpret GL data to ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Euro bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly service charge revenue and expense accruals as well as fluctuation analysis.
  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between US Parent and European subsidiaries, including due to/due from and interco loans.
  • Record quarterly distributions and contributions for Spain portfolios.



Financial Analysis

  • Perform completion balance sheet research and reconcile discrepancies for Spain entity acquisitions.
  • Prepare budget vs. actual, actual vs. actual financial variance analysis.


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assist Property Management and Corporate Finance teams with annual budget and quarterly reforecast for Spain portfolios.


Accounts Payable

  • Review and approve Euro invoices/wires.


External/Internal Audit

  • Assist in audits and analysis of property-level financials, as wells as walk through of internal controls.
  • Document accounting procedures and processes.

Other

  • Ability to handle and analyze large quantity of data.
  • Ability to review current processes for improvement and efficiency.
  • Work with external and internal team to resolve Yardi issues.
  • Test the implementation of new Yardi modules.
  • Support/Back up other accounting functions as needed.


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 4 year Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university, with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Public accounting experience is highly preferred.
  • Real estate industry experience is preferred.
  • UK GAAP experience is preferred but not required.
  • Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.
  • Must be organized, detailed, flexible, efficient and take ownership of own work product.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
