The Business Technology Design (BT Design) team at Salesforce is looking for a User Researcher join our nimble, dynamic, and collaborative team and be responsible for defining, leading, analyzing, and socializing UX research studies in close partnership with our designers and product managers. As a researcher on BT Design Team, you’ll scope, plan, execute and analyze all aspects of research across all of our business organizations within Salesforce—bringing unique perspectives to solving our biggest and most important business challenges that impact our end-customer experience be it internal employees or Salesforce Admins.

About Business Technology Design
As a User Researcher, you will work in the Business Technology Design team who is an internal-facing, enterprise innovation team within Salesforce. We’re a global team of designers, researchers, strategists, engineers and producers driven to remove friction from the employee experience at Salesforce. We create meaningful experiences across digital and physical spaces that help employees across the globe do their best work more effectively and efficiently. We help our own internal businesses, like Human Resources and Sales, recognize and adapt to change in their business landscape and partner with them to plot a course towards a more robust, digital future, through human-centered design.

Our engagements combine elements of strategic advisory, visioning, user research, ideation, storytelling, value propositions, workshop facilitation, rapid prototyping, end-user concept testing, and product delivery. Join us as we work to enable staff to live their best lives working at Salesforce.

Our teams are currently working remotely, but we anticipate this position to have the ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (both national and international) once offices fully reopen.


  • Own strategic research efforts across a business domain
  • Collaborate with product and UX teams to outline research plans, execute research, consolidate findings, and present meaningful insights
  • Plan, design, and lead research strategy that inform business, product and design decisions for multiple product areas in a domain
  • Define and consolidate quantitative and qualitative research, including surveys, lab-based usability studies, field studies, and more to provide insights on requirements definition, content strategy, wireframes, visual and interaction design
  • Work closely with partners across multiple teams to clearly define and prioritize user research needs and lead efforts to execute on necessary research
  • Identify and recommend the best methods to answer research questions and prioritize them according to schedule and opportunity constraints
  • Actively find opportunities to improve the user experience across your business domain
  • Estimate work effort and define what needs to be done
  • Present actionable, creative, compelling insights and recommendations to multiple teams and stakeholders across the organization
  • Contribute to the team by providing support to junior team members, leveraging your strengths to help others grow and evolve our team, the UX Research practice and our culture
  • Distill complex multi-method research reports into understandable, compelling, connected and actionable insights to multiple teams/leadership levels across the business domain

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years professional experience, with proven success working with product teams and UX designers on software interfaces
  • BS degree in Social Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Psychology or similar areas (Master’s degree a plus) or equivalent work experience
  • We also seek someone with a creative streak, a love for experimentation and the desire and skills to deliver quickly
  • Experience with various research methods: in context qualitative research, diary studies, IDIs, moderated and unmoderated usability, and surveys
  • Advanced ability to articulate and visualize both qualitative and qualitative results
  • Experience working firsthand with UX design and software product teams and planning UX research across the product lifecycle
  • Ability to develop creative, flexible and rapid approaches to user experience problems
  • Effective communication and storytelling skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences that translate findings into business impact

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience conducting qualitative research in a B2B setting
  • Experience with business software, solutions, technology
  • Experience teaching non-research stakeholders and facilitating collaborative workshops
  • Experience in commerce, business administration, finance, or billing, internal IT organizations
