Cross Curriculum Tutor – Job Summary
The Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) office is seeking a working professional within education who is passionate in helping students to become successful, independent learners. Strong background in learning strategies for reading and writing (research included) are a priority for a Cross Curriculum tutor. This individual’s main responsibility is to support the process of students navigating, and learning the demands of the course, and proceed with completion. A Cross Curriculum tutor assists student-athletes with study skill strategies, which may include but not limited to note-taking, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills.
This position plays a vital role in the success of our students in the classroom. Cross Curriculum tutors host one on one sessions that are tailored to meet the need of the student-athletes whose is in need of skills in reading and writing. We are looking for dedicated individuals with strong academic backgrounds that are able to impart strategies to help build self-confidence and motivate the students. Tutors will report on students and share those reports with the academic staff at the end of each session. In addition to the academic component, tutors offer encouragement and support to keep students motivated and ready to learn and serve as a role model to the student.
Cross curriculum tutors work 10-15 hours a week under the supervision of the Associate Director of Academic Services. The pay range for this position is $25-$45 per hour.
Lead Tutor – Job Summary
The Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) office is seeking professionals, graduate students, and recent graduates who are interested in gaining valuable experience working with student-athletes. We are looking for individuals with strong academic backgrounds that can help monitor our sport-specific study halls while serving as a cross curriculum tutor for those students. Under the supervision of a full time SAASS staff member, the lead tutor will help maintain a quiet learning environment while also organizing review sessions and teaching new study skills/learning strategies. All study halls are in the weekday evenings after 6:30 PM.
