Headquartered in Roswell, GA., Mary Hall Freedom Village has been transforming lives of women, ren and families for the last 25 years. It was on June 1, 1996, the founder, Lucy Hall opened the doors to her first 2 clients. Since then, MHFV has transformed the lives of over 15,000 individuals, not to mention their families and their communities. Throughout these trying times we strive to continue breaking the cycle of homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and poverty through the programs and services we provide.

Job Title: Program Nurse

Department: Clinical

Reports to: Behavioral Health Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Supports the Medical Services Department of Mary Hall Freedom Village by providing the intake nursing assessments, nursing care and ongoing medical services of the organization in a systematic and consistent manner. Participates actively in the development of competence of the medical services of the organization to meet the goals and objectives outlined in the mission of the organization. Oversees the medication management process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following as well as other duties that may be assigned:

  • Assists with the development and administration of organization’s policies and procedures in alignment with the requirements of the agency’s accrediting body and primary funding sources in cooperation with other agency departments.
  • Ensures that the operations of day-to-day medical services activities are adequately delivered to function in the most effective and efficient manner to meet the needs of the persons served.
  • Maintains all necessary records, reports, and training tools to acquaint all employees with an adequate understanding of the functioning of the medical services in all areas of the organization as required.
  • Monitors timely submission of reports and input of required program information into agency databases (i.e., KIPU).
  • Reviews and tracks all medical services activities; and recommend changes in them, or better utilization of facilities, services and staff as needed.
  • Works with Medical Director, Behavioral Health Director and Connections department to ensure appropriate scheduling and assignment of staff to meet the needs of the person served.
  • Keeps track of utilization of medical supplies to make certain that efficiency is practiced in the utilization of them at all times.
  • Prepares and submits budget, records, reports and statistical data to Behavioral Health Director and Chief Fiscal Officer as required.
  • Ensures required medical documentation is entered into the electronic health record system timely and accurately.
  • Participates actively in the planning for staff development needs of medical services as required by licensing or accrediting organizations.
  • Oversees operation of the medical clinic for the clients; and recommends procedures changes, or other courses of action to improve the delivery of care to them.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees in Medical Services and ensures that they have completed their orientation process before they are assigned regular tasks and duties in their department.
  • Makes community and outreach contacts with outside medical and healthcare professionals to build collaborative relationships with professional partners who can provide education or training to clients and staff on smoking cessation, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and/or health and wellness.
  • Represents agency at outside meetings and functions as needed.
  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of current trends, and techniques guiding the medical services care for consumers in the behavioral health field.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises at least one HR employee and the volunteers required to build an effective HR team.

Education and/or Experience

RN required. Nursing or healthcare background preferred with 3-5 years’ related experience and/or training; at least five years of demonstrated experience supervising a medical services program, or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Substance Abuse and Mental Health training a plus

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must maintain CEUs for license. Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal history fingerprinting background check.


Must be able to pass background screening which includes fingerprinting and drug testing. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a good 3-year Motor Vehicle Report. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Current/Valid State of Georgia driver’s license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job which may require long periods of sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive motions, walking up and down stairs, use of telephone, working under pressure and working rapidly for long periods. Position requires close work; finger dexterity; good vision, hearing, and oral communication.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
