Data Analyst II

The Data Analyst II will directly support the Director, Advertising & Tagging Governance, and will be responsible for strategizing, solutioning and documenting digital analytics tagging and data collection solutions across various Cox Automotive digital channels with primary focus on Kelley Blue Book (KBB) and Autotrader. This role includes responsibility for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of tagging implementations, tag monitoring & auditing (Governance), and supporting other Cox Automotive Analytics data collection functions including Sales and Marketings 3rd party tags.

Ideal candidate will be skilled in documenting digital analytics data collection requirements, understanding relational databases, validating, and debugging the data contained in tags such as Google Analytics 360, 3rd party tags, and, primarily, our proprietary data collection framework, PixAll. The candidate should have expertise in a holistic approach to data collection across the Enterprise and how requirements gathered, implemented, and removed affect Analytics users downstream with their SQL queries and reporting/analyses.

Candidate should have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to effectively interact with all Stakeholders including Engineering, Analytics, Product, Data Science, Sales, vendors, etc.

  • Partner with various Stakeholders (Product, Analytics, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to gather Analytics requirements for digital data collection.
  • Based on requirements, solution design & document customized data collection/tagging specifications that are delivered to Engineering for development/implementation.
  • Lead the tagging specifications, data collection documentation and holistic strategy for Cox Automotives proprietary data collection framework, PixAll.
  • Troubleshoot data collection/tagging issues as they relate to reporting (data anomalies, missing data, tag breakages, etc.).
  • Advise Engineering, Analytics and Product teams on tagging best practices to ensure site changes consider downstream data impacts.
  • Work closely with Engineering to minimize data collection page performance impacts, data leakage and security risks.
  • Ensure data Governance (tag monitoring and audits) is conducted on a regular basis, track and manage tag/data collection requests (internal and external) end-to-end.


  • Compensation includes a base salary of $63,900 - 89,500. Salary may vary outside of the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidates experience.
  • Position is eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.


  • Digital analytics tagging and implementation experience is required with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience gathering and documenting data collection requirements including the authoring of tagging specification documents.
  • An understanding of Data Layer Objects, Event Driven Data Layers and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Google Tag Manager, Adobe Launch Tag Management, or similar Tag Management suite.
  • Experience with Google Analytics 360 and GA4 solution design.
  • Experience with digital media and web analytics performance optimization strategies.
  • Strong experience using Web Development tools to troubleshoot tagging network calls (UAT data collection).
  • Leverage analytics reporting systems for Adobe, Google and sometimes Snowflake (SQL) to resolve data conflicts, defects, and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables at the same time and work effectively in an Agile framework (Features/User Stories/Tasks).
  • Must be a detail-oriented, creative thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires independent completion of work with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Problems and issues may be numerous and are vaguely defined and may need a high degree of reasoning and analysis of multiple variable factors to address problems and issues.
  • Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio, etc.) required.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Business; related work experience may be substituted for advanced degree.
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes in order to meet business requirements.
  • Other duties as needed or required.
