About the Organization
At The Mission Continues, we empower veterans to continue their service and empower communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact. We’re investing in veterans, equipping them with the tools and resources to lead a growing veteran volunteer movement. Through networks, training, and pathways, veterans can continue to serve while creating meaningful impact in under-resourced communities.

The Opportunity:

The Sr. Director, Digital Marketing is responsible for building and leading the digital marketing strategy that will enable The Mission Continues to grow our movement of veteran-led service. This position will have responsibility for the organization’s digital engagement channels primarily: email marketing, digital advertising, and social media, and combines strategic and tactical expertise in developing and leading digital marketing and communications initiatives and campaigns. In this role, you will manage a digital team to design and implement campaigns that meet our marketing goals for veteran and donor acquisition, veteran and donor engagement, online fundraising, and brand awareness. The right candidate has a growth-oriented mindset, is comfortable operating in a “start-up” environment, and is passionate about using technology to bring people together to help solve complex problems.

What You Will Do:

    • Develop and implement an annual digital marketing strategy and targeted multi-channel marketing programs that build profitable, long-term relationships with donors, veterans and volunteers.
    • Lead the performance coaching, management, and professional development of a three-person digital marketing team responsible for social media (all platforms), email marketing, digital advertising, customer journey mapping and analytics reporting.
    • Leverage digital marketing strategy, platforms, and channels to steward existing donors and increase our network of individual donors to achieve organizational growth and revenue goals.
    • As a key leader on the Marketing/Communications/Development team, you will be responsible for reaching an assigned revenue target through online fundraising.
    • Establish national digital engagement metrics across all channels, and use data to drive strategic decision making.
    • Work with leadership to build a marketing budget that supports strategic objectives, and manage that budget, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and driving towards organizational success.
    • Monitor and optimize campaign metrics; provide thought leadership and recommendations in order to maximize KPIs.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of, and hands-on experience in current digital marketing tools including: Google Analytics data interpretation and analysis, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) standards and best practices.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For:

    • Minimum 10 years' experience in digital marketing or demand generation with experience in Digital Ad Operations, Campaign or Project Management.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals through online engagement and marketing.
    • Expertise in Web optimization and Web analytics, marketing, communications, and creating multi-channel user journeys to acquire, activate, and retain supporters.
    • Exceptional communications/interpersonal skills to clearly articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, utilize resources, and meet deadlines.
    • Excels in mentoring and coaching a team.
    • Experience with Salesforce.com (CRM) or comparable platform.
    • Experience with paid digital media, including utilizing services such as AdWords, promoting YouTube videos, Facebook posts, and sponsored Tweets to drive key outcomes and goals a plus.
    • Must be able to motivate and lead others in the development, direction and execution of a marketing strategy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
