Position Summary:

The Information Technology (IT) Solutions Engineer assists in the support of the technology environments that enable effective and efficient business operations for CoastalStates Bank. This includes providing support for “core” banking applications and systems; business operations support applications and tools, including email systems and office automation tools; technology infrastructure (servers, networks, desktop/laptop and mobile technologies); and technology products and services provided by third-party vendors. This position requires significant knowledge and skills in a wide variety of technology-based applications, tools, architectures, and infrastructures. The IT Solutions Engineer assist and supports projects and activities that are recognized as being technologically complex, often requiring coordination of multiple resources from several sources (i.e., internal departments and third-party technology vendors). The IT Solutions Engineer takes primary day to day direction from the Senior IT Solutions Engineer and the CIO when necessary.

Position Focus Areas:

Focus areas for the IT Solutions Engineer fall into three (3) key areas:

1. Core Systems Applications / Technology Services

The IT Solutions Engineer provides support for “core” banking and financial services processing applications and systems as provided via third-party technology solutions providers (e.g., Fiserv). In this capacity, the IT Solutions Engineer interfaces with CSB management and third-party vendors to plan, support and test upgrades to applications and systems that provide new and/or improved features and capabilities for bank customers and employees and to address technology issues with existing applications and systems. This individual assist in the resolution process for technology problems where analysis of technology situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. The IT Solutions Engineer communicates the status of all activities related to core systems upgrades, issues, and resolutions to appropriate stakeholders, including Operations Management, Third Party vendors and the CIO on a timely basis.

2. Technology Infrastructure Services

The IT Solutions Engineer participates in the design, development, support and implementation of technology engineering activities for a wide variety of platforms, including desktop/laptop and mobile technologies; peripheral technologies, including printers, scanners, and fax technology; servers (physical, virtual, data base, applications); and data network environments. The Engineer supports and monitors processes for technology solutions to meet business requirements. Day to day activities are monitored by the CIO.

The IT Solutions Engineer works closely with third-party technology vendors (CSI; Hargray; etc.) to ensure effective, efficient and secure day-to-day operations of technology environments. Serves as the secondary contact for data network management, monitoring, and maintenance with the vendor responsible for these activities. This includes daily reviews of network activities; opening tickets via the vendor portal to report network operations or security issues on a timely basis; reviewing the monthly network report available from the vendor; and following up on all outstanding issues until resolution.

3. Business Support Applications Services

The IT Solutions Engineer leads assist in the design and implementation of desktop, laptop and mobility solutions that support secure, efficient business operations. This requires an in-depth technical understanding of device/OS functionality and features, as well as business support tools and applications, including MS Office, Office 365/Outlook, and others. The IT Solutions Engineer is able to effectively troubleshoot issues and problems related to desktop/laptop and mobility ecosystems and work with users at all organizational and experience levels, exercising judgment within defined practices and policies to obtain positive results. A critical component of the IT Solutions Engineer’s responsibilities is to manage user profiles and security access to all environments via informed use of Active Directory and group policies. Additionally, the IT Solutions Engineer works closely with ticket resolution with Alphanumeric help desk team.

Essential Functions: *

  • Maintains stable and secure technology environments that support daily business operations for CSB, including desktop/laptop/mobile technologies, core banking environments and business support environments (e.g., MS Office, email, fax, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of physical hardware and software configurations and operating systems (Windows OS).
  • Communicates with technology vendors to ensure delivery of critical services and projects as defined by contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Keeps abreast of technology products and solutions, in order to effectively provide insight into technology projects and proposed solutions.
  • Participates in activities related to IT Risk Management, IT Audits and Business Continuity Program (BCP) as required.
  • Follow all other instructions and perform other job-related duties, at the discretion of the CIO.

Preferred Education/Experience/Software:

A Bachelor’s or Associate degree in business, computer science/information systems or comparable experience. A minimum of two years of technology infrastructure and applications support experience with a demonstrated ability to maintain stable and secure technology environments that meet business objectives. Financial industry experience, with a focus on commercial banking and/or mortgage banking is preferred. Industry-recognized technology certifications in desktop support and/or network support are highly desirable (MCSE, MCSA, MCDST, CCNP, CCIE). Knowledgeable in a wide range of systems and Microsoft Office software applications.


Responsible for the timely completion of all required compliance training such has BSA, Information Security, and other job specific training as assigned.

BSA Compliance:

Provides support and assistance to the Bank’s BSA/AML Compliance Officer and staff by ensuring consistent execution of Bank BSA/AML policies and procedures within areas of oversight.

Additional Requirements:

The responsibility to acquire and maintain the required knowledge of State and Federal Banking regulations and policies.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Professional office environment. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to operate standard office equipment. The team member is frequently required to communicate and perceive. The position is primarily stationary and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and requires sedentary work such as exerting up to 10 pounds of force 5% of the time and a negligible amount of force approximately 95% of the time.
