Position Overview

As the Principal Solution Architect Payments, you will be part of the team responsible for architecting, designing, and developing new payment software solutions for prospective customers, existing customers and key industry partners based upon our Vynamic Payments product. You will provide customer and market feedback by gathering and analyzing marketplace intelligence for new requirements within the payments eco-system and translating into potential technical solutions with business requirements.

Your primary focus is to work with clients, prospects, and the internal team to analyze business needs and translate business requirements and programming specifications in a form that can easily be understood by all audiences. You will serve as an active contributor in key strategic scenarios by supporting and facilitating design sessions and requirements gathering for both internal and external solutions.


You are responsible for

  • Engaging with key prospects and customers in the pre-sales phase and transforming customer business requirements into a solution proposal based upon the capabilities of the DN portfolio.
  • Monitoring architectural and business metrics to measure performance, identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing adherence to standards and governance policies.
  • Participating in Sales planning to develop new target customers and/or markets.
  • Addressing complex technical and process issues escalated from Solution Architect teams and/or clients.
  • Driving and executing requirement processes on strategic client engagements.
  • Planning requirements gathering and design activities. Collaborating with product, project, and development managers to determine required resource needs, product backlog prioritization, champion delivery of feature sets via a design schedule, and work with all customer-facing team members to translate the technical solution into feature / benefit propositions for the marketplace.
  • Capturing, classifying, and prioritizing business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitating functional solution design and collaborating with SMEs on identifying and designing solutions.
  • Constantly monitoring solution portfolio for changes / additions and impact to different environments.
  • Staying focused on continuously improving and re-evaluating consulting services best practices.
  • Developing innovative technical solutions and setting product direction to address industry business problems.
  • Contributing across the entire development cycle (presales, requirements gathering, analysis, design, code, test, initial pilot/production launch, and production support) with the primary focus on analysis, solution design and mentoring development staff.
  • Reviewing and analyzing existing banking solutions and client requirements and providing recommendations for extension and customization to team members and clients.
  • Traveling to customer sites for meetings, presentations, and architectural sessions.
  • Attending workshops, meetings, and architectural sessions at Diebold Nixdorf locations.
  • Leading non-project-based activities which strengthen the organization (e.g., training, development of solution standards, pioneering of new technologies and capabilities).
  • Developing and maintaining working relationships with other departments which are key to the success of the organization (e.g., Product Management, Business Development, Professional Services, Engineering, Customer Support, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, Master’s degree preferred computer science or related
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the financial services / payments industry with a focus on payment solutions
  • Deep knowledge about retail banking industry and related typical business processes
  • Mature knowledge about state-of-the-art software trends and technologies, technical aptitude, and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • A proven track record for meeting and exceeding performance objectives
  • Expert at defining technical solution to a business problem
  • Possess a high level of demonstrated thought leadership, oral and written communication, presentation, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills
  • Must be adept at collaborating and working well with virtual and international teams
  • Strong competence in customer facing environment and the ability to communicate to executives on specific practice from a business perspective
  • Ability to identify, structure and articulate solutions both tactically (situational basis) and strategically; with the ability to recognize patterns of needs
  • Position may require up to 50% travel
