Job Description

The Senior Director Finance, Client Services (CS) will be a financial business partner for the CS business team. The individual will be responsible for leading the financial planning & analysis processes, partnering with the business to build business cases and prioritize investments, simplifying and improving processes, driving efficiency, and providing broad decision support analytics to assist business leaders.

This role will be responsible for driving a proactive, collaborative partnership between Finance and CS organizations, deeply embedding Finance into the business, understanding the Business’s needs, and identifying trends and opportunities to advance Visa's overall business and financial strategy. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work across a global, matrixed business organization.

The role will involve delivering important insights to senior finance leaders and executive management and require strong leadership and influencing skills. In addition, a large part of the responsibility will be to drive efficiency through simplification, standardization, process improvements and to further accountability across CS and Finance. CS is a global team of over 3,000 employees, who provide support to Visa clients and is actively involved in several Visa initiatives. The role will help mentor and manage the team to deliver top notch business partnership. The ideal candidate will have a deep background in financial and general business analysis, preferably with a public company, demonstrated experience collaborating across global functions, and a track record of driving standardization and operational efficiency to reinvest in growth.

Essential Functions:

Strategic Planning and Analytics:

  • Become a trusted business partner to all business units and executive management, with effective written and verbal communication skills to influence key outcomes
  • Partner with executive team to develop long term financial plans aligned with the business strategy
  • Develop and drive operational metrics to foster commercial mindset and accountability with business partners; establish business unit reporting and accountability
  • Partner with stakeholders to create business cases and repeatable frameworks for investments, to drive operational efficiency
  • Identify and implement changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operational decision making

Financial Management:

  • Lead creation of the annual business plan and analysis with focus of aligning to and meeting business strategic objectives
  • Transform financial management to metrics/drivers-based, enhance capacity models and recommend actions to business to further improve results
  • Standardize and scale financial reports to leverage across Business and Finance team; drive efficient processes for quarterly and monthly performance reporting through creation of Center of Excellence
  • Translate operational metrics and data to financial impact, resource allocation and decision-making
  • Enable management by providing timely, accurate information; summarize and communicate details to executives

Project Management:

  • Lead ad hoc and formal projects to improve processes, support initiatives and enhance performance of the team and organization
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance over core processes building efficiencies and streamlining deliverables for optimal result across cross-functional teams
  • Continuously improve key processes including budgeting, forecasting, headcount management and reporting

People Management:

  • Attract, recruit and train top talent into the Finance organization; foster and enhance inclusive environment
  • Mentor high performing team members by helping to create a center of excellence and instilling best practices across finance
  • Influence, motivate and collaborate with key business partners and stakeholders across levels


Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; 10 years of work experience with an
Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an
Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD); PhD with 9+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or relevant technical field
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Investment banking and/or management consulting strongly preferred
  • At least 12 years of professional experience with 5-7 years of relevant experience in a well-
disciplined organization where best practices are integral to the management of the business
  • Experience leading a Financial Planning & Analysis (or similar) team with a thorough understanding
of financial accounting and management reporting
  • Proactive, strategic thinker
  • Strong analytical, modeling and project management skills; Six Sigma a plus
  • Superior problem-solving skills with ability to communicate effectively with executive management
  • Must be detail oriented to ensure accuracy and quality of output
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other functional areas and understand the operational and cultural
issues relevant to achieving superior results
  • Client focused with tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts
  • High energy and enthusiasm required to partner with multiple stakeholders
  • Able to work effectively in a global, dual-reporting, matrix environment

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
