Skyland Trail, a nonprofit mental health residential treatment program for adults and adolescents in Atlanta, is seeking a Development Services Coordinator


The Development Services Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Development and oversees all aspects of the organizations donor database (Raisers Edge) to improve database utilization, make informed recommendations, and support the identification, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects. The Coordinator handles all functions of development services, including database administration, gift recording and acknowledgement, accounting reconciliation, data/list management and overall department support.


Gift Administration/Database Management

Plans and manages all activities for input/output of information in the organizations relational database and actively participates in maintaining data integrity.

Coordinates gifts made by credit card and online giving, printing and mailing of direct mail solicitations, pledge reminders, and tribute giving.

Produces and mails acknowledgement letters in a timely manner.

Serves as point of contact with Blackbaud/Raisers Edge and other back-end fundraising vendors, to ensure optimal data and fundraising outcomes.

Manages electronic and hard copy donor files.

Lists and Reporting

Works closely with the Finance department to ensure accurate gift entry on a monthly basis and provides annual audit reports and other data; creates financial report of gifts, monthly reconciliation and other duties as needed.

Works alongside the Development team members to pull, segment, and analyze data/lists for mail and email invitations, call-out year-over-year trends when applicable.

Plays an active role in online and email fundraising efforts and provide mailing lists, testing, review, and input.

Fundraising Support

Provides the President, Vice President of Development and other staff with the tools/reports and information required to plan and execute Skyland Trail fundraising programs, including analysis of donor histories, reporting, research and prospect management.

Coordinates Development Committee meetings and meeting minutes and other departmental meetings as assigned.

Utilizes database expertise to support prospect research and qualification.

Plans and executes annual staff campaign effort.

Attends and assists with Development special events.

Communications and General Administration

Provides excellent customer service, anticipating the needs of donors and volunteers.

Prioritizes proactive, timely, and thorough communications with leadership and other stakeholders.

Enjoys collaborating with colleagues and facilitating their efforts.

Other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Vice President of Development

Competencies: This position should have sufficient preparedness in the following areas:

  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Results-oriented and strong ability to multi-task
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical and planning skills
  • Ability to work well with a team, across departments and independently


  • Bachelors degree required with two to four years of experience in nonprofit organization with specific experience working with a complex database
  • Advanced working knowledge of Blackbauds Raisers Edge
  • Experience with online email marketing and online fundraising tools preferred
  • Working knowledge of resources and processes for donor research and prospect management
