Job Description:
Seeking a Chemical Process Engineer who is a highly motivated leader to join our team in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate must have extensive experience in executing projects within the Petrochemical, Specialty, Agricultural or Consumer Chemical Industry. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to lead a team of engineers and work with other engineering disciplines, sometimes across multiple offices.
Job Requirements:
  • Interacts with clients in project meetings and site visits. Acts as a lead technical team member to convey experience and knowledge about what it takes to successfully implement a project.
  • Develops baseline deliverables to define the project, including heat and material balance and process flow diagrams (PFD); consults to the team on other integrated deliverables such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), plot plan and risk assessments.
  • Provides input to project scoping and proposal efforts to support the project management team.
  • Performs and/or reviews equipment / hydraulic sizing calculations, specification of process instrumentation, process studies (including overpressure protection studies) and other deliverables as the Engineer of Record or Peer review.
  • Provides technical guidance and information to mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and project engineering disciplines.
  • Develops (or supports development of) plant commissioning, startup, and operating procedures; and may assist with facility commissioning and startup activities.
  • Work as part of a multi-office, multi-disciplinary team in a lead technical role (non-supervisory)
  • Act as a mentor to less-experienced engineers (non-supervisory)
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Have 7+ years of process/design work experience in the Petrochemical, Specialty, Agricultural or Consumer.
  • Experience in delivering feasibility and early “front end loading” work is highly preferred
  • A background in facility or unit operations within the industry is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across multiple offices and teams.
  • This position must communicate effectively with Clients, Vendors, Contractors and other Design Group employees at all levels of responsibility. Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as a professional demeanor are essential.
  • Must currently hold or be willing and eligible to obtain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Education / Licensure
  • Bachelor’s (B.S.) degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer’s License desired or desire to obtain PE License in the future
Travel Requirements
  • Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.
