POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Principal, the Work-Based Learning Teacher will be responsible for leading the work-based learning programs at each high school. In addition to teaching the practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with career-related education within the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Work-Based Learning (WBL) program framework will be covered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Develops and improves relationships with local business, industry and community organizations to foster work-based learning opportunities
• Facilitates student learning through research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning
• Presents and leads students in demonstrations and simulations, utilizing appropriate procedures and protocols
• Creates and maintains an online database of employers for student internships and apprenticeships
• Maintains proper reporting utilizing current technology (C-NET program) and submits timely reports to GaDOE annually
• Makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real-world experiences for students, such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning and assists students as an advisor for CTAE student organizations
• Coordinates conferences to review student performance, behavior, and other issues
• Performs various duties such as taking attendance, maintaining work records, recording grades, communicating with parents, attending parent meetings, facilitating orientation for students, employers and parents
• Attends professional meetings, conferences and workshops to maintain professional knowledge and skills and to create collaboration through networking
• Coordinates annual events to recruit, train and develop students, such as Parent Orientation, WBL Success Seminar, Mock Interview Day and a annual business partner recognition ceremony
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
