Reporting to the Principal, the Work-Based Learning Teacher will be responsible for leading the work-based learning programs at each high school. In addition to teaching the practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with career-related education within the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Work-Based Learning (WBL) program framework will be covered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Develops and improves relationships with local business, industry and community organizations to foster work-based learning opportunities
Facilitates student learning through research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning
Presents and leads students in demonstrations and simulations, utilizing appropriate procedures and protocols
Creates and maintains an online database of employers for student internships and apprenticeships
Maintains proper reporting utilizing current technology (C-NET program) and submits timely reports to GaDOE annually
Makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real-world experiences for students, such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning and assists students as an advisor for CTAE student organizations
Coordinates conferences to review student performance, behavior, and other issues
Performs various duties such as taking attendance, maintaining work records, recording grades, communicating with parents, attending parent meetings, facilitating orientation for students, employers and parents
Attends professional meetings, conferences and workshops to maintain professional knowledge and skills and to create collaboration through networking
Coordinates annual events to recruit, train and develop students, such as Parent Orientation, WBL Success Seminar, Mock Interview Day and a annual business partner recognition ceremony
Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an education related field
Certification/License:
Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, required
Must hold a valid Georgia Professional certification at a T-4 level or higher, or be eligible for a non-renewable certificate
Must possess or be willing to complete Work-Based Learning Coordinator Training through GaDOE
Work Experience:
5 years of occupational work experience and/or teaching experience in a CTAE field
3 years of experience with Georgia's Work-Based Learning program delivery
3 years of work experience with Special Education and/or At-Risk students, preferred
