The Cathedral Preschool seeks a qualified Resource/Support Teacher with preschool teaching experience. The Resource Teacher will work alongside classroom teachers to model differentiation, effective classroom management strategies, and learning approaches that benefit many types of learners ages toddler-Kindergarten. DESCRIPTION, RESPONSIBILITIES, & DUTIES
Create, communicate, and maintain classroom management practices that effectively engage students in the learning process.
Support the work and plans of the lead and assistant teacher, modifying needs for students who need a differentiated approach.
Work with the classroom teachers to provide a hands-on, effective curriculum and instructional strategies, which promote social/emotional development, communication and language development, intellectual and cognitive development, visual-spatial processing, sensory-motor function, and executive functioning.
Ensure the safety and general care of each enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas.
Consult and collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop an understanding of each ’s unique individual needs.
Flexibly adapt lesson plans and provocations to the questions, observations, ideas, and interests of the students.
Model communication and compassionate problem-solving strategies and assist ren as they learn to negotiate and manage conflict.
Actively pursue professional development opportunities and be engaged with fellow teachers in mutual support and feedback.
Provide an inclusive classroom, celebrating each 's unique abilities.
Utilize technology and strong writing skills to communicate with families and colleagues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS degree in Education or Child Development; Master's Degree in Special Education, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Communications preferred
3+ years of early hood teaching or related experience
The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching preschool age ren implementing a project learning model. Experience with students who have special needs, a plus.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary reflects a 5 hour, in-person work day from mid-August-May. Teachers are placed on our salary scale and paid based on their degree and years of experience. Limited summer camp positions are available during June and July with additional salary.
