South College invites applications for the position of full-time faculty member at the South College Atlanta campus in Anatomy & Physiology (lecture and lab). This faculty member will lead courses that introduce the various structures and functional components of the human body including the characteristics of life, homeostasis, organizational levels, basic metabolism, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms. Systems emphasized are the integumentary, endocrine, skeletal, muscular, nervous (including special senses), digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, and urinary. In addition, fluid and electrolyte balance and the reproductive system, including elementary genetics, are covered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop appropriate academic lectures and learning experiences that allow all students to achieve course objectives.
  • Ensure that all academic program requirements and forms of documentation are completed as required for each student and submitted per established deadlines.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback to students.
  • Be reasonably accessible to students for questions and assistance.
  • Appropriately manage all classroom activities.
  • Submit accurate attendance/academic participation rosters as prescribed by the institution.
  • Submit official grades at the end of each quarter for each course taught.
  • Function as a part of South College and participate in meetings, projects, recruiting, and committee work.
  • Maintain professional standards of practice in teaching in the classroom.
  • Support student success through mentoring, tutoring, and advising.
. Requirements:

A minimum of an acceptable master’s or doctoral degree in the discipline, or an earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours (or 27 graduate quarter hours) in the discipline. 1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred.
