We’re now looking for innovative-thinking, technologically savvy Building Surveyors to join our teams, helping us to continue to find innovative solutions to our clients problems, delivering service of the highest quality and changing the vision of Building Surveying in the future.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Utility research and field designation of utilities according to ASCE standards and common practices
  • Coordinate with utility owners; read and interpret maps, record drawings and plans
  • Select and utilize the appropriate geophysical equipment to accurately designate utilities in a variety of congested utility environments
  • Perform minor maintenance and calibration of geophysical locate equipment
  • Prepare detailed notes, sketches and exhibits to summarize field utility findings and deviations from research
  • Manage large quantities of utility location data, prepare utility sketches and input utility configurations, designated location and other details into a tablet or laptop using mapping programs, GIS database and/or CADD tools
  • Coordinate and/or perform survey location of the designated utilities
  • Maintain schedules on utility locating projects and assist with survey location of existing conditions
  • Communicate/present technical utility information to utility owners, project managers, engineers, land surveyors and CADD technicians


Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Degree preferred and(or) formal technical training and certifications related to utility designation
  • Valid driver’s license and willing to travel
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with geophysical equipment such as ground penetrating radar and radio frequency locators for conductive and non-conductive utilities
  • Thorough knowledge of utilities such as gas, water, steam, power, sewer, and communications
  • Mechanically adept, independent, and reliable
  • Excellent written communication, computer, technology and math skills
  • Extensive on-going training will be required; e.g. OSHA, confined space, safety
  • Technical understanding or experience in the following is a plus:
  • GDOT projects
  • Land survey techniques and methods
  • Global positioning systems
  • Vacuum excavation
  • Utility rodders, jets and TV equipment

Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
