Allen Media Group is looking for a Senior Vice President to lead the technology, engineering and operations teams that power it’s streaming and direct-to-consumer initiatives. The position is responsible for the end-to-end technology stack from conception to 100% uptime providing a great consumer experience across Allen Media Group’s expanding streaming products and platforms; including The Weather Channel TV, Local Now – a free ad supported offering, and several new platforms currently in development within our expanding portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to contribute in this newly created position and make a mark on an ambitious vision. They will lead an existing dynamic and motivated team that has been launching streaming/DTC offerings. They will help grow and refine the current team, partner with technology and business teams around the larger organization, expand vendor relationships and bring all technologists, managers, and engineers together with a focus on building world class streaming and DTC systems.

Successful candidates will be leaders who can prioritize well in a startup environment, communicate clearly while managing a high volume of inputs and have a consistent track record of delivery. They will also be consumer obsessed, have a demonstrated background in developing scalable technical products and infrastructure by showcasing previous or current experience. Key Responsibilities


  • Direct management of engineering, technology, quality assurance, app development and operations staff focused on Streaming and DTC
  • Strategic leader in the streaming/DTC team - partner with business, product, content, operations and development vendors to understand and influence vision, requirements with thought leadership and actionable insights of best-in-class technology solutions
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across business, technology, and vendor partners to develop and execute compelling, cost-effective infrastructure and operations strategies that enable the next phase of the company’s growth
  • Partner with senior technologists to define best practices and standards for coding, security, and systems architecture
  • Responsible for budget planning, forecasting and tracking, capital business requests and technology P&L management
  • Strategy and execution to implement critical coverage of Information Security, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, System Outages , etc
  • Responsible for producing and executing buy verse build analysis to critical capital discussions in service of sustainable, long-term technology strategies
  • Develop the long-term technology, engineering and support roadmap
  • Responsible for overall uptime and quality of service of all DTC and streaming touchpoints with consumers
  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant technology and engineering experience
  • 5+ years of managing teams of 20 or more staff
  • Extensive cloud experience, preferably with AWS, familiarity with Azure and Google Cloud Platform a bonus
  • Experience with Scrum Agile software development lifecycle, particularly in coaching business leaders and stakeholders in the intricacies of Agile
  • Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming and scripting languages, ideally with C# and JavaScript, using Angular and .NET/CORE frameworks
  • Extensive experience in leading teams building streaming video delivery pipelines from acquisition and ingest, to encoding, through CMS management and publication via CDN
  • Experience guiding diverse teams in the building, deploying, and operating of world class consumer facing applications
  • Bonus for managing multi-tenant service environments and streamlining technical competencies for multiple product lines
  • Deep marketplace network, with the ability to attract top talent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business and technical vision with the ability to combine into real time strategic guidance.
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
