Utilize substantial knowledge of the law, legal processes and significant management skills to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in the administration and coordination of the legal risk management activities of the FIU, which may include one or more of the following substantive legal areas: subpoena investigation/ fulfillment, litigation, contracts, intellectual property, regulatory, corporate governance, complex lending transactions, mergers and acquisitions, securities, trusts, insurance, tax and labor/employment. Responsible for moderate complexity with minimal supervision and is emerging as an expert in one or more specific skill-sets or specialized legal practice areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Resolve problems or transactions where significant professional expertise is required to apply law, regulation, policies and guidelines.
2. Investigate facts of moderately complex transactions or cases. Organize, review and analyze large volumes of detailed information.
3. Perform moderately complex legal research, apply results to facts, develop and communicate legal conclusions.
4. Fully utilize appropriate FIU management system.
5. Review legal documents including contracts, pleadings and other legal documents.
6. Create, utilize and/or manage processes involving large, moderately complex transactions or cases.
7. Design, maintain and/or manage one or more FIU workflow processes, reports, tools and databases.
8. Interact on a professional level with other departments, internal and external clients, and outside counsel.
9. Perform job with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment within established policies and guidelines.
10. Maintain applicable continuing legal education requirements and observe relevant ethical requirements under the Rules of Professional Conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training; or successful completion of an American Bar Association approved paralegal training program; or certification by a State Bar approved paralegal certification program; or equivalent working knowledge and experience
2. Five years of experience working on moderately complex legal matters in a law firm or corporate law department or equivalent experience
3. Significant understanding of legal concepts, terminology, principles and procedures
4. Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues, establish facts, analyze moderately complex information and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision
5. Creative problem-solving skills with ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, seeking input of others as needed
6. Superior communication skills with the ability to express moderately complex facts and legal principles clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
7. Strong leadership skills with the ability to make fact-based recommendations in order to positively influence diverse teams and achieve desired results
8. Strong relationship management skills with ability to work successfully and influence others across multiple practice groups and departments
9. Substantial knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of legal research and writing with demonstrated proficiency in online legal research
10. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
11. Ability to manage multiple projects that require interaction with multiple attorneys, departments and internal and external clients
12. Superior organizational and project management skills; attention to detail and accuracy
13. Demonstrated ability to adapt to change as position, role, function, and structure of FIU evolves
14. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Corporate law department experience
2. Experience in the financial services industry
3. Experience in one or more specialized legal practice areas
