Position Summary

Our Workplace Safety and Health Practice Group is seeking an experienced paralegal to work with shareholders and associates in either our Tampa or Atlanta offices. The group represents clients in handling inspections and investigations by OSHA and state plan agencies. Much of the group’s work involves OSHA inspections following fatal or other catastrophic incidents in construction, manufacturing, grocery, health care, and other industries. The group also represents clients in resolving or contesting OSHA citations, including the litigation process before the US Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC) and similar state plan agencies.

We need a paralegal to help provide overall management and coordination of our caseload and support our work within individual matters. The overall caseload management duties will include tracking critical deadlines, client contacts, OSHA and opposing counsel contacts, and other case information. Within individual matters, we need support with all phases of an OSHA matter: inspection, citation, informal settlement, litigation, and appeal. For each case, we need help organizing and producing documents; communicating effectively with OSHA, opposing counsel, and clients; preparing for witness interviews and processing interview notes or statements; preparing for informal settlement conferences; pleadings, discovery, and motions when the cases are litigated before OSHRC; and appeals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with OSHA or other federal regulatory agencies.
