Your Role

This role will manage and enhance the SOX compliance program for two publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts managed by Invesco Ltd. As the point person for SOX considerations, this individual will quickly gain broad exposure to the operations of both companies and interact with leaders in finance, accounting, technology, investment operations as well as with external and internal auditors to support the establishment of a consistent, repeatable, and sustainable SOX program.

You will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrate solid understanding of COSO control framework and ability to craft a compliance program utilizing that framework

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on Internal Controls over Financial Reporting

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the build-out and ongoing maintenance of SOX controls and related procedures

  • Collaborate with leadership, internal, and external audit teams to plan, organize and implement the SOX compliance program

  • Collect and analyze complex data, evaluate business processes, information and systems, identify risks and draw logical conclusions

  • Manage multiple deadlines and be accountable for overall SOX deliverables and execution

  • Evaluate control deficiencies and work cross functionally to drive remedial actions

  • Work with internal audit, risk management, and external audit to analyze deficiencies, identify compensating controls, and build management action plans for remediation

  • Oversee SOX compliance oversight and support for testing performed by internal and external auditors

  • Define, implement, and test ITGCs and remediate deficiencies identified during testing

  • Support auditors through the walkthrough process

  • Provide timely and detailed status updates on controls readiness, testing results, and remediation plans to management.

  • Maintain the SOX database within Workiva


The experience you bring:

  • 5+ years in public accounting, controls experience with public companies, or equivalent

  • Concentration in SOX compliance experience with a public company, working directly on implementation, remediation, testing or compliance

  • Experience leading small teams or working on project teams

  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision

  • Experience with Workiva a plus

  • Real estate accounting experience a plus

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and highly analytical

Formal Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance

License/Registration/Certification:

  • CPA required
