The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for coordinating strategic community engagement and partnerships that align with the state’s desired goals and positively impact the members we seek to serve.

If you are located in North, Central, or South Regions of Georgia, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively develop, maintain and grow productive relationships with key, local entities and stakeholder groups to address community health issues within the Medicaid
  • Provide guidance to the Director of Engagement and Advocacy and other business development leaders on the development of market engagement initiatives with local and state agencies, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, provider groups and associations and other opinion leaders
  • Lead in-market implementation of all market engagement initiatives and events
  • Engage market organizations and groups to achieve greater collective impact of UnitedHealthcare’s mission and efforts to develop and support community health partnerships
  • Support the design and implementation of pilot projects and investments that support innovative programming and align with the state’s priority area
  • Develop strategies and tactical plans to support consumer/member innovation and gain strategic insight into the needs, expectations and concerns of members
  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding funding for market engagement efforts, special projects, and subsequently, manage the end-to-end grant process for the local grantee
  • Collaborate with internal staff by facilitating the planning and hosting of events with targeted stakeholders
  • Represent UnitedHealthcare at association meetings, conferences, forums, coalition meetings, workgroups, and steering committees
  • Develop content to include in newsletters and other marketing and education materials to be distributed on a regular interval to key stakeholders and stakeholder groups
  • Liaison to Marketing and Communications teams to ensure maximum visibility and exposure within the State and to specific designees (e.g. State legislators and decision makers, consumers, advocates, and CBOs/FBOs and providers)
  • Liaison to all other UHG segments including E&I, M&R, Optum, and enterprise-wide support divisions
  • Establish appropriate collaboration meetings on strategies that align business segments and promote unified messaging and approaches to serving the community
  • Responsible for market engagement, community outreach and marketing within the state that will differentiate UHC from competitors ensuring a successful RFP submission
  • Work with the Solutioning and Proposal teams to foster collaboration and ensure all market engagement activities are written into the RFP that will be submitted to the state
  • Serve as strategic advisor to Business Development leadership
  • Input and track all activities into SalesForce, ensuring accuracy for reporting
  • Maintain relevant work and critical documents on SharePoint sites, including regular reporting of activities

Required Qualifications:

  • B achelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of Medicaid sales and/or Healthcare Community Outreach experience
  • Prior experience working effectively in a highly matrix organization
  • Ability or aptitude to present to groups utilizing various technology (video conferencing)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, One Note, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goals
  • Reside in the state of Georgia
  • Ability to travel 50% within the region/market

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of strategic business development experience
  • 1+ years of Managed Care Experience
  • Project management experience to include budget management
  • Solid demonstrated ability to lead business initiatives to a successful outcome
