Director, Government Relations - Federal

Equifax is seeking a Government Relations Director, Federal, to join a team of dedicated professionals working to communicate and advance the interests of Equifax. The Director will help guide the policy agenda and develop a plan for strategic engagement for the Equifax Workforce Solutions business. The Director is responsible for reviewing federal legislation and regulations to identify risks and opportunities. The Director communicates with federal agencies and congressional offices, including through direct lobbying. The Director works with internal and external stakeholders to support the business priorities and policy goals of Equifax Workforce Solutions. The Director will report to the Senior Policy Counsel.

This position will be based in either Atlanta, GA or in the Washington D.C. area.

What you’ll do

  • Promote the policy and business objectives of Equifax Workforce Solutions Government business with members of Congress and Executive agencies.

  • Understand policies, statutes, and regulations related to entitlement programs, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

  • Review federal legislation and regulations to analyze the impact on Equifax business objectives and coordinate the findings with Equifax Workforce Solutions Government to communicate legislative and policy requirements.

  • Assist in the drafting and submission of federal regulatory comments and proposals and collaborate with internal/external policy and legal counsel.

  • Attend political events as a representative of the Equifax Inc. Political Action Committee as well as participate in trade associations to help advance business objectives.

What experience you need

  • 3+ years of policy or lobbying experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred, or will consider equivalent experience

  • Understanding of federal entitlement programs including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

  • Demonstrate strong judgment and discretion

  • Thorough understanding of the legislative/political process

  • Some travel will be required

What could set you apart

  • Juris Doctor degree would be a plus or relevant legal background looking to move over to a corporate government relations position

  • Previous experience in a congressional office, federal agency, or administrative government program

  • Previous experience working in government - legislative or agency such as Health and Human Services and/or Workforce Services
