The mission of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is to transform communities by acting as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, innovative development, partnerships, and long-term relationships with families. The Haman Resources Specialist manages a number of key HR programs and initiatives.

Position Summary: The Human Resources Specialist provides program development, management, and evaluation focusing on employee engagement, systems administration and education, benefits, labor law compliance, staff events, onboarding, recruitment, payroll support, performance management, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an organization administrator and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Paylocity HRIS system.
  • Develops, evaluates, and advises on program goals and metrics.
  • Manage all staff recruiting and onboarding using HRIS system. Develop and implement process improvements.
  • Develop, manage, and deliver professional development programs for staff, including virtual learning management systems (LMS) and onsite and offsite workshops. Develop new learning tracks for staff.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Culture index implementation across the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to implementation success of organization-wide initiatives in HR process updates and employee engagement.
  • Lead relevant employee-focused projects across the organization.
  • Support all HR programs.
  • Provide backup support to payroll processing.

Job Conditions:

  • The position is full-time with an average 40-hour workweek; some evening and weekend work may be required. Flexible schedules and hybrid work options must be worked out with the supervisor and be compliant with Atlanta Habitat’s policies and business hours.
  • This position is classified as exempt.
  • The Human Resources Program Manager reports to the Human Resources Director and is a member of the Human Resources Team.
  • This position is subject to a criminal and background check and drug and alcohol testing.
  • The Human Resources Program Manager will often deal with sensitive information and is expected to use discretion and independent judgment in carrying out his/her responsibilities and to represent the organization in a professional, knowledgeable and collegial manner at all times.

. Requirements:

Qualified Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:


  • B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college or university, major in a related field preferred.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred. Additional specialized HR certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of HR experience in a generalist role.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in an administrative, or project management role with previous nonprofit work experience preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience and expertise in developing and delivering adult classroom instruction.
  • Supervisory experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Applied knowledge of position related employment-related laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Database management skills preferred.
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS systems software required; experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Ability to develop professional development programs including training and coaching supervisors and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to work well with a diverse group of staff members, volunteers, and community leaders. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and across departments.
  • Able to meet deadlines with strong attention to details.
  • Proven skills in time management and project management.
  • Advanced research skills, using both print and electronic sources.
  • Flexible, able to take initiative, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes to priorities.
