COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS DIRECTOR

SUMMARY:

The Compensation and Benefits Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the firm’s Compensation and Benefits programs. He/she will lead the Total Rewards efforts for the firm, and work with the CPO, HR team, and firm leadership to ensure that benefits and compensation strategies and programs support the firm’s long-term objectives and meets all legal requirements.


The Compensation and Benefits Director is a member of the Human Resources Leadership team and will report to the Chief People I Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Compensation function; planning, developing, and implementing employee and executive compensation programs

  • Design, administer, and communicate the firm’s compensation plans, benefit plans, and rewards programs; develop the appropriate salary infrastructure and leveling for the firm

  • Ensure the consistent application of IA’s pay philosophy

  • Align market cost competitiveness, and drive the pay for performance culture

  • Responsible for salary administration, executive compensation, and recognition programs, including developing, recommending and implementing creative and cost-effective plans and policies that provide a competitive employee value proposition

  • Works with the HR team and firm leadership to ensure that job descriptions accurately reflect the core competencies and responsibilities of each role within the firm

  • Responsible for market pricing of jobs and total compensation recommendations

  • Ensures data integrity as well as compensation and benefit plan compliance with the firm’s policies and procedures, as well as all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

  • Drive continuous improvement to develop a highly efficient Compensation and Payroll processes

  • Deliver Comp & Ben support to the firm in support of a high-performance culture

  • Partner with firm leaders on available C&B tools to attract, engage, and retain employees, including ensuring an understanding of the firm’s Total Rewards philosophy, full compensation plans, policies, and initiatives

  • Drive and successfully implement high priority projects, to include the firm’s bi-annual compensation cycles, including firm-title, bonus, and merit processes



REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's in human resources or related field, PHR or SPHR preferred.

  • 10+ years managing the human resources function of a multi-location organization. Experience in Architecture or Design consulting practice preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with professional services firms preferably with commercial interior architecture and/or design industry.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR disciplines: recruitment, employment law, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, affirmative action compliance and training.

  • Knowledge of current and changing HR regulations and best practices – particularly related to benefits (including the Affordable Care Act), compensation and compliance.

  • Working knowledge of Payroll and ADP.

  • Sound employment practices with federal, state, and international compliance laws.

  • Advanced MS Office application skills.

  • Advanced knowledge with HR information systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise in a multi-site organization

  • Proven ability to maintain confidential information.


Working Conditions:
For the majority of the time the Compensation and Benefits Director will be sitting in a studio with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist and reach. On occasion individuals will be required to visit a client site to perform site verifications and field surveys. The position is not subject to occupational and safety risks.
