HVAC Mechanic 2nd Shift


  • Investigates and troubleshoots problems and performs repairs on mechanical equipment including large complex air movement and HVAC equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on various mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Performs inspections, repairs, and replacements of pumps and piping systems including valves, components, and fittings.
  • Analyze basic heating, cooling, and humidification cycle to include: identifying components, knowledge of the operation of each component, diagnosing problems in other devices to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment including measuring devices, and testing equipment.
  • Plans, schedules, and oversees regularly scheduled testing and preventive maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, and instrumentation systems
  • Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Performs minor building maintenance as needed
  • Operate a variety of hand and powered tools
  • Administer and Schedule Work
  • Keeps daily reports, records, rounds and reading for assigned equipment
  • This job is not limited to HVAC only
  • In liaison with the Maintenance Lead ensure the site is operated and monitored in accordance with local legislation and manufacturers guidelines.
  • Ensure that all your assigned maintenances and reactive works are professionally performed within SLA & KPI . That all work orders completed in full compliance with the Equipment Maintenance System
  • Maintenance of plants and utilities to ensure proper operation within specifications, efficient and reliable installations and that records are filed as required by Operational, Legal and Statutory practice.
  • Contribute to maximum availability and proper functioning of technical installations. Ensure prompt response to faults and emergencies with accurate reporting of the events.
  • Carryout all work in a healthy and safe environment following safety instructions and policy.
  • Guide the specialist contractors through the site, evaluate and reports performance issues to the engineering lead.

Knowledge and Personal skills:

The Mechanical-HVAC Technician must have knowledge of industry standards, for mechanical maintenance, HVAC maintenance, and the ability to apply knowledge to maintenance, inspection, and testing of campus mechanical systems. The ability to read, interpret, and understand basic engineering drawings and specifications including work orders and equipment manuals is required.


  • Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary
  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
  • Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
  • Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled

Education Requirements:

  • High School graduation or GED is required
  • Technical College or Trade Program is preferred, HVAC certification is preferred
  • Five years’ experience with mechanical and HVAC systems working in an office building setting is highly preferred
  • Skilled in use of electrical and handheld diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and specialized tools required to execute the position responsibilities

  • EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification required
