What we are looking for
: The Cloud NOC Engineer is the owner of monitoring and alerting for our customer-facing products and the first point of escalation into the Network Engineering and Infrastructure group. Cloud NOC Engineers also accommodate Service Requests from teams internal to the company. The Cloud NOC Engineer will be expected to promptly investigate and respond to alerts in our monitoring system, and follow defined escalation policies to appropriate development groups. All Cloud NOC Engineers are expected to provide insight, training, and guidance to fellow team members and those needing direction outside of our immediate group.


Your Role:

  • Receive and respond to alerts from monitoring systems
  • Work with engineering teams to define monitoring metrics and alert/escalation policies on a product-by-product basis
  • Perform initial triage of network and infrastructure related incidents
  • Analyze and interpret SIP/IP data from packet captures
  • Troubleshoot issues that may include the Linux and Windows operating system and third-party products
  • Using a Linux CLI to perform basic systems management function/information gathering
  • Support the Network Engineering team by assisting with systems-level testing and deployment
  • Support our Support teams through the creation of technical documentation, detailed case notes, email, and verbal communication
  • Accommodating Service Requests that come from teams internal to the company
  • Maintain detailed technical records and handle customer requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Must be available for on-call rotation
  • Meet deadlines for small projects and quarterly objectives that we agree to as a team

Your Background:

  • Problem-solving abilities and research skills
  • A minimum of one year of evidence-based troubleshooting work in a related environment
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard VoIP protocols
  • A solid understanding of the SIP protocol and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot packet capture data
  • An understanding and basic knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems
  • Skilled with packet analyzer tools such as Wireshark
  • Technical college, trade school, related technical certification, and/or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience diagnosing/troubleshooting computer LAN/WAN or VoIP (SIP/RTP) issues
  • Basic understanding of L2/L3 network fundamentals

Additional Desired Proficiencies

  • Basic programming/scripting abilities is a plus (Python, Bash, Perl, etc)
  • Knowledge of SNMP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, NAT, Port forwarding, Access list, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing SSL certificates
  • Salesforce or other ERP/CRM experience is a plus
  • Operational experience in a 24/7 production environment
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Zabbix, Solarwinds, Nagios, etc.
  • Any related certifications or degrees in a related field are a plus
